Rigour, traceability and organisation – the know-how that guarantees the highest quality standards of French milk dates back more than 50 years.
The more science and technology advance, the more specialised our expertise becomes, as we develop new methods for rapid screening for contaminants and pathogenic micro-organisms. Over 120 million milk analyses are conducted every year by certified laboratories across the production chain. We also help farmers deepen their skills in this area, and have strengthened the health incident management system.
Through dialogue with consumers, we are aware that food safety and antibiotic residues in milk are a priority area. To this end, we have adopted a nationwide policy using harmonised criteria and methods for milk analysis across all of France. Systematic screening ensures that milk collected from farms is free from antibiotic residues, a commitment long upheld by the French dairy sector.
To complement the legal requirements of testing, dairy farms also implement additional optional measures of quality assurance and certification.
Best practice guides are available to support processing companies in their operations.
